About Me

I’m a software engineer and engineering manager working with Ruby, Go, and Python. I’m interested in software, systems, music, psychology, and the kind of learning that only really happens by doing the work. I’m also a certified Enneagram coach with over 200 hours of training.

I’ve been playing piano since I was six, and music still shapes how I think, including how I think about code and systems. I care about building systems that not only work, but feel coherent, readable, and well-composed; in a way, I like writing code that sounds right.

In my spare time, I like tinkering with things. You might also see me online as “Alexander Shagov” or “Aliaksandr Shahau”, or variations of those names anywhere attached to a musical pet-project, abandoned github repo or yet-another-experiment.
